Design proposal for a doorhandle, entry for a desigboom competition in cooperation with colombo design
Made out of standard extrusion profiles that are cut in two directions, the 2,5D handle can exist in many configurations that vary from the standard, with the change of a cutting pattern or welding position. No molds whatsoever are needed to change aspects of the design such as lenght and handle thickness, also non-standard spindle sizes can be easily incorporated. The profiles use a weight relieving technique as used in large-scale constructions, depending on where these are joined, the depth of the handle is set. The spindle is locked in another small profile and the handle can be mounted on a standard round or square rose.
